Choosing a light colour for your kitchen could be the best decision you’ll ever make. Although white and pale grey is sometimes considered to be a safe option where wall colour (or lack of it) is concerned, light coloured cabinetry is a stylish and fashion-forward option as you can see here.

When it comes to kitchen colour ideas, grey is the shade with the X-factor. Smart, stylish and versatile, grey kitchen cabinets have the power to suit virtually any scheme and paler shades of grey are chic and sophisticated.

Pairing black with a light colour tone isn’t exactly reinventing the wheel, design wise. Yet it will always look modern, provided you pick the right little details. Black worktops and flooring are hugely practical, as they won’t show the dirt like a paler colour would.

Black worktops are very popular and with good reason. Their sophisticated look, combined with their low-maintenance nature means that you can enjoy the visual benefits of the contrast between black and lighter coloured cabinetry without having to worry about constantly wiping and cleaning your worktop.

In this example, we have also made the most of a big room with a huge island that’s packed with helpful storage.

The interior of the cabinets is a warm oak finish which compliments the lighter coloured shaker cabinetry and the cutlery inserts are also solid European oak. The beautiful colour and character of oak’s grain also makes for a hard-wearing insert that is both attractive and resilient – the ideal combination.
