Are you planning a kitchen renovation in the coming months? Make your space future proof by implementing some of the best design ideas for your kitchen. Below, we share a few trends that we believe will be prevalent in 2020. From colours and layout to your choice of accessories, sink, tap and worktops, every detail of your kitchen design is a pivotal decision.

Look at some of the fashionable trends that we consider will be prevalent in the year to come…

Kitchen colours…

Although white cabinets are a classic look that can be used in almost any kind of kitchen style, we are slowly starting to see them on the way out. At Concept Interiors, we think that there is a considerable chance that white may start declining in popularity throughout 2020.

To break up the all-white kitchen, we expect to see islands in a variety of different paint colours or wood stain colours. This is a great approach to adding an interesting twist to your aesthetic and it can change the whole feel of the room.

We are already seeing that these pops-of-colours will be most popular in shades of blue and green.

Green Cabinetry is emerging as a new front runner…

In recent years it’s all been about navy, but we expect to see more green in kitchens going forward into 2020. The trend for bold dark hues was prominent throughout 2019, and as we move in to 2020, green kitchen cabinetry is set to be a new, key style. Green can be equally dramatic and luxurious when used in the kitchen. The addition of white marble and brass through design aspects like lighting and worktops, or even accessories, help to bounce the light around the space and offset the heavier hues.

Navy Blue Hues are still king…

We believe that shades of navy blue will continue to be a huge trend for kitchen cabinet choices in 2020.

For a long time, the interior design colour of the moment has been grey. But dark blue looks set to overtake it in the popularity stakes. Navy kitchens look elegant and stylish. Combine rich, dark blue cabinetry, hand painted in Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue or Hague with pale or marble worktops, neutral walls and natural floors to maintain a balance between light and dark.

Statement Taps

No kitchen is complete without an impressive tap. Black, Brass and industrial-looking taps with unusual handles and interesting features are a great way to draw the eye and compliment the space. At Concept Interiors, we are finding that the Quooker boiling tap in black and Gold are becoming very popular kitchen essentials and we see this trend continuing into 2020.

Also, Quooker are helping you to ditch the plastic! You can now install the new CUBE extension to the Quooker boiling tap (attached to the existing tank with a CO2 cylinder) and the tap will stream not just filtered, chilled and boiling but a sparkling option too.

Open Plan living

With the rising popularity of open-plan living it’s no surprise to see that living room furnishing growing in popularity in our kitchens. Now more than ever Kitchens are the heart of our homes, so creating a comfortable well presented space has never been more important.

Open plan kitchen design has been around for a long time and we believe that it’s here to stay. This is due to the fact that an open plan design lets light bounce around the room and evokes the feeling of a large airy space without it actually being too big to live in.

Dining Islands

We all know that islands and breakfast bars can provide a spot for casual dining, as well as workspace and storage. However, At Concept Interiors, we have been involved in a number of recent projects where we have taken this trend to a whole new level with dining islands.

This is where the kitchen island features an extension island dining area meaning you get the storage benefits of an island but also the addition of integrated dining that forms part of the island design. When entertaining, we want to be able to integrate both cooking and socialising and what better way to do so than with built-in island seating.

Worktops

Beautifully graceful and utterly elegant, it’s no surprise that the desire to emulate marble worktops is still as popular as ever. This timeless pattern will add instant depth and interest to any space. We think that Silestone and Dekton materials emulating this marble appearance will continue to prevail in 2020. We also think that worktop waterfall islands will continue to grow in popularity.

Want a smart and dramatic finish to your island? Then wrap your island with worktop at both ends and you’ll neatly conceal the sides of any cabinetry as well as adding a practical element that can easily cleaned. And, if you opt for a waterfall worktop design with thick marble veining, the extra pattern at each end will add enough interest to the space that you won’t need pattern elsewhere.
