April 3, 2026Kitchen trends to observe in 2026 – ranging from vibrant colour schemes to standout storage solutions, these are the predictions from our professionals regarding what will gain prominence in the upcoming year.
FEATURE NEWS
The kitchen is continually evolving, and 2026 will be no different. Anticipate an increased use of drawers to improve functionality and accessibility, while the lasting appeal of neutral colours will be revitalised with earthy, warmer hues.
Additionally, decorative features and architectural components will take on a more significant role, enabling enhanced personalisation and character.
Kieron Eyre, Director of Concept Interiors, examines the significant kitchen design trends anticipated to influence homes in 2026.
Warm Colour Palettes
Neutral colour schemes have been prevalent in kitchen design in recent years. In 2026, we anticipate a transition from off-whites to warmer, earthier hues like mushroom and soft stone tones, applied to cabinetry.
These colours will be complemented by natural oak and walnut doors, fostering a warm and welcoming environment. Elements of timber will also be incorporated throughout the designs, including open shelving, custom pull-out trays, and breakfast bars, enhancing depth and adding a natural texture.

More Intelligent Storage Options
More informed choices are being made regarding kitchen storage solutions. Instead of bending down or reaching into the depths of deep cabinets, there is a growing trend towards the use of drawers, including those positioned at eye level, to enhance accessibility.
Wider drawer designs are gaining popularity, optimising space and facilitating better organisation with integrated dividers for pots, pans, and utensils.
Countertop cabinets featuring bi-fold doors represent another emerging trend. These units are typically installed at eye level, often in corners that would otherwise remain unused.
Their doors enable items to be stored neatly out of view while allowing for quick access to daily necessities such as tea, coffee, or small appliances.

Use of Minimalist Lighting
When it comes to kitchen lighting, the principle of 'less is more' applies. Although LED strip lights are not a recent innovation, their adaptability has led to a surge in popularity for achieving a refined, minimalist aesthetic.
We have been utilising these lights to brighten various spaces, including beneath breakfast bars, on shelves, and within glass cabinets.
There is an increasing interest in incorporating them inside pantry cupboards and bar units.
The strips are rebated into the carcase of the cabinet and can be mounted either vertically or horizontally and are designed to automatically activate when doors are opened, thereby enhancing visibility within cabinets.

Large Bars & Wine Storage
In light of the COVID pandemic, which has encouraged more entertaining at home, we have persistently focused on designing and creating custom bar units within kitchens along with some exceptionally impressive wine storage solutions.
Recently, these units have transformed into more expansive and opulent areas, with some residences even allocating entire rooms for a bar or wine cellar.
It resembles having a personal pub, but with a far more elegant touch. These arrangements frequently include drink dressers, islands, and independent cabinets intended to showcase a variety of items, including glassware, bottles, books, frames, and decorative pieces.

Multi-Functional Islands Develop
Kitchen islands continue to be the focal point of the home, yet they are becoming increasingly intelligent. Expansive islands featuring integrated bench seating offer inviting areas for family and friends, with innovative storage solutions concealed beneath.
These islands fulfil various roles: preparation area, dining space, homework zone, and social gathering place.

Technology That Truly Assists
Smart technology in 2026 focuses on integration rather than merely gadgets. WiFi-enabled devices, voice-activated lighting, and inventory-monitoring sensors are becoming commonplace.
Induction cooking is increasingly favoured for its precision, efficiency, and safety.
Touch-to-open cabinets remove visible hardware, creating a sleek appearance.
We assist clients in selecting intelligent features that genuinely enhance their quality of life.

The kitchen design trends anticipated for 2026 are remarkably versatile.
