This project showcases a truly bespoke kitchen designed and handcrafted to become the architectural centrepiece of a newly refurbished family home.
The brief was to create a space that balanced timeless craftsmanship with contemporary luxury, delivering exceptional functionality while maintaining an elegant, understated aesthetic.
The result is a sophisticated open-plan kitchen that seamlessly integrates cooking, dining and entertaining. Every element has been carefully considered—from the handcrafted cabinetry and furniture-inspired island to the integrated banquette seating and bespoke breakfast station—creating a room that feels as much like a beautifully furnished living space as it does a high-performance kitchen.

The Design
The kitchen has been designed around symmetry, proportion and natural light. A soft painted perimeter contrasts beautifully with the rich dark oak island, creating depth and visual interest while maintaining a calm, neutral palette.
The vaulted ceiling and large skylights flood the room with daylight, allowing the natural materials and subtle textures to take centre stage. Traditional, classic, in-frame cabinetry is paired with clean contemporary detailing, resulting in a timeless design that will remain elegant for years to come.
Rather than allowing the island to dominate the room, it has been thoughtfully integrated with a bespoke upholstered banquette and circular dining table, creating distinct yet connected zones for cooking, dining and socialising.
The Centrepiece Island
At the heart of the kitchen sits an impressive island, handcrafted in stained oak and finished with classic framed detailing.
Designed to serve multiple purposes, the island incorporates:
- Extensive drawer storage
- Integrated BORA Classic induction hob
- Generous preparation space
- Informal seating for family and guests
- Furniture-inspired panelling and mouldings
- Premium Silestone Bronze Rivers quartz worktops with elegant Ogee profile detailing
The darker timber introduces warmth and contrast against the painted cabinetry, grounding the entire space while giving the island the appearance of a bespoke piece of furniture rather than conventional kitchen cabinetry.
Bespoke Banquette Dining Area
One of the defining features of this project is the integrated dining area.
A custom-built curved banquette has been seamlessly incorporated into the rear of the island, creating a comfortable and sociable family dining space. Upholstered in a soft neutral fabric with vertical panel detailing, it provides both visual softness and practical everyday seating.
Paired with a circular Quartz top dining table and upholstered dining chairs, the area encourages conversation and creates an intimate setting within the larger open-plan room.
This bespoke solution also maximises space while reinforcing the seamless flow between kitchen and dining.
The Breakfast & Drinks Station
A dedicated breakfast cupboard has been designed to conceal smaller appliances while keeping them easily accessible for everyday use.
Behind full-height bi-folding doors sits:
- Quartz work surface
- Internal oak stained shelving

When closed, the cabinetry maintains the clean architectural lines of the kitchen, while opening reveals a beautifully illuminated functional workspace.
